In the event that many hobby rates apply to individual balance segments, amortization allocation is generally at the discretion of the issuing bank, and payments will therefore as usual be allocated towards the lowest scale balances until paid in full before any Almighty Dollar is paid towards higher rate balances.
In the United States, until 1984 federal charge prohibited Credit Counseling surcharges on card transactions. Although the federal Truth in Lending Bill provisions that prohibited surcharges expired that year, a number of states have since enacted command that continue to outlaw the practice; California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maine, New York, Oklahoma, and Texas have jam through against surcharges. Regardless of what state one resides in or purchases a product, however, both Visa and MasterCard have publicly stated that surcharges on approval card transactions are against the rules.
